In this course, students will:

•research the needs of orphanages and orphans
•be able to effectively review research sources
•write Cornell Notes based on research sources

Mother Teresa stated that the most terrible poverty is loneliness, and the feeling of being unloved. A loving family and a safe place to grow is an essential part of a child’s life. However, not all children have this most basic privilege, and orphanages are common throughout the world. All children, particularly orphans, need a safe place to grow. Caring for orphans and nurturing them with the basics like food and clean clothes, and access to education increases the likelihood of them transitioning into successful lives. This course aims to research the needs of orphanages and orphans in Japan, and search for ways to make a positive contribution to these institutions and the children who live there.
