In this course, students will:
•research child abuse prevention
•be able to effectively review research sources
•develop general English discussion ability
•be able to discuss child abuse prevention in English
•write a problem solution essay in English
•develop their autonomy, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills
This course examines child abuse as a major social welfare issue that affects the healthy growth, development, and independence of children, in line with the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The course explores the causes and effects of child abuse, awareness-raising activities, and existing prevention and support measures. It also includes a critical analysis of current responses and introduces Japan’s social action initiative, the Orange Ribbon campaign.
