This course aims to develop an understanding of the significance of youth policy in contemporary society and to examine how young people participate in social and political life in Japan and around the world. In particular, it focuses on examples from European countries, especially Sweden, to explore how young people can engage in social decision-making processes.
The course is structured in two parts: the first half (theoretical section) and the second half (practical section). In the first half, students learn the fundamental theories and historical development of youth policy, and consider the relationship between young people’s life worlds and social systems from an international perspective. In the second half, students examine concrete practices of youth participation and youth work, and discuss the possibilities for applying these approaches in the Japanese context.
This course develops an understanding of the importance of youth participation through a comparative examination of youth policies and youth work in Japan and other countries. The course is organized around key analytical perspectives outlined below. Where possible, guest speakers will be invited to contribute to the lectures.

ゲストスピーカーの予定やその他の都合により、授業内容の入れ替えを行う場合がある。
本授業では、現代社会における若者政策の意義を理解し、日本と世界における若者の参画のあり方を学ぶ。特に、スウェーデンをはじめとしたヨーロッパ諸国の事例を取り上げ、若者が社会の意思決定にどのように関与できるかを探究する。
本講義は前半（理論編）と後半（実践編）の二部構成とし、前半では若者政策の基礎的な理論や歴史を学び、国際的な視点から若者の生活世界や社会システムとの関係を考察する。後半では若者参画やユースワークの具体的な取り組みを学び、日本での応用の可能性を検討する。
