When you hear the word 'Christianity', you might think of a college chapel, the sound of an organ, or a sermon given by a chaplain. But this course goes beyond these common images to explore how Christianity addresses modern social issues. We'll focus on topics like war, environmental protection, and sustainability. Students will learn to express their own views on Christianity, engage in discussions with classmates, and develop their personal intellectual positions.
This course is structured around three main components:
Biblical Study: Students will explore the stories and teachings of Jesus Christ, as well as the Old Testament foundations that influenced his message.
Church Visit: A required field trip to a local church where students will attend a service and participate in small group discussions afterwards.
Student Presentations: Each student will share what they've learned with the class, encouraging group learning and critical thinking.

キリスト教と聞いて何を想像しますか。キャンパスにあるチャペル、オルガンの音色、チャプレンの語り掛けるメッセージ等、それぞれだと思います。では、その「キリスト教」は現代社会の直面する課題―本授業では戦争、エコロジー、持続可能性に焦点を当てます―に、具体的かつ有効な知見を提供してくれるのでしょうか。この問いを通して、キリスト教について自分のことばで考え、他の受講生と意見交換し、自分の考えを練り上げることを授業の目標とします。

上記の目標を達成するために本授業の内容は以下3つの柱で構成されます。第一に聖書についての学びです。イエス・キリストが語ったこと、行ったこと、イエスが参照したユダヤ教（旧約聖書）の教えについて学びます。第二に少なくとも一度、教会に行って、牧師もしくは司祭から話を聞いてグループで情報交換、意見交換します。第三に授業で学んだことをグループで発表します。
