【授業の目標 / Course Objectives】

移民と国民国家の関係を軸に、差別のメカニズム、歴史的背景、社会への影響、そして差別軽減に向けた取り組みについて多角的に理解し、現代社会における差別の問題を批判的に考察できるようになる。

Through the lens of the relationship between immigrants and nation-states, students will:

- Develop a multifaceted understanding of the mechanisms of discrimination, its historical background, its impact on society, and efforts to reduce it.
- Cultivate the ability to critically examine the issue of discrimination in contemporary society.

【授業の内容 / Course Contents】

「差別はあってはならない」とか「偏見をもってはならない」といった文言が人口に膾炙し、「多様性」とか「包摂」といった言葉が流行語のように流布するなかで、差別問題への関心が高まっている。とりわけ世界でも日本でも話題になるのが、移民への差別の問題である。そもそも差別とはなにか、どんなわけで差別が起きるのか、どうすれば差別が増える・減るのか・・・等々の争点について広範囲かつ活発な議論が展開されている。移民の不可避的増加を経験する日本においても、こうした争点に真剣に向き合うことは避けて通れないものとなりつつある。

この講義では、移民（エスニックマイノリティ）と国民国家の関係を中心に、現代社会における差別問題を多角的に分析する。

序盤において、差別の概念、メカニズム、歴史的背景について学ぶ。社会心理学、社会学、政治学などの知見をふまえ、差別がどのように生み出され、維持されているのかを理解する。

中盤・終盤において、国民国家と移民（エスニックマイノリティ）の関係に焦点を当て、国民国家や国民が移民を差別するメカニズム、移民に対する差別の実態と要因、そして社会統合に向けた課題と可能性について考察する。具体的には、各国の移民政策、移民の状況、多文化共生政策、差別解消に向けた法制度や社会運動などを分析し、現代社会における差別の課題を整理する。

In today's world, phrases like "discrimination is unacceptable" and "prejudice is wrong" are commonplace, while terms such as "diversity" and "inclusion" have become buzzwords. Amidst this trend, there is a growing interest in the issue of discrimination. In particular, the issue of discrimination against immigrants and other ethnic minority groups has become a hot topic both globally and in Japan. There is a wide-ranging and active debate on issues such as the definition of discrimination, the reasons why it occurs, and how it can be increased or decreased. As Japan experiences an inevitable increase in immigration, it is becoming increasingly important to seriously address these issues.

This course will provide a multifaceted analysis of discrimination in contemporary society, focusing on the relationship between immigrants and nation-states.

In the first part of the course, we will examine the concept of discrimination, its mechanisms, and its historical background. Drawing on insights from social psychology, sociology, and political science, we will seek to understand how discrimination is created and maintained.

In the middle and latter parts of the course, we will focus on the relationship between nation-states and ethnic minorities. We will explore the mechanisms by which nation-states and citizens discriminate against immigrants and other ethnic minority groups, the reality and causes of the discrimination, and the challenges and possibilities for social integration. Specifically, we will analyze the situation of immigrants, multicultural policies, legal systems and social movements aimed at eliminating discrimination, and identify the challenges of discrimination in contemporary society.

高校レベルの日本史・世界史の知識があることが望ましい。ほぼすべての回で課題提出が求められるので継続的な受講と取り組みが必要である。

資料の配付・授業中の課題提出・業務連絡等にLMSを使用するため、授業にPCを持参することが推奨される。

前年の授業内容から大幅な変更がある点に注意。前年はジェンダーなどの論点も扱っていたが、本年は移民や国民国家と差別の関係を中心に扱う。
