In this course, service learning is defined as the process in which students contribute to society through community-based learning while deepening their scientific(wissenschaftlich) knowledge. The course aims to enhance the theoretical foundation, skills, and other competencies necessary for this process. Specifically, the course objectives are as follows:
- Understand the role of service learning in modern society by studying its theories and history.
- Identify, analyze, and plan effective intervention strategies to address the needs of local communities.
- Develop reflection skills to learn from experiences gained through service learning activities and deepen academic knowledge.
- Acquire the skills to collaborate with community members and organizations in planning and implementing projects, as well as foster a proactive attitude and sense of responsibility toward contributing to society as individuals.
In this course, as outlined in the syllabus, we will primarily cover the following topics:
- Theories and history of service learning
- Methods for identifying the needs of local communities
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating service learning projects
- Communication and leadership skills for advancing service learning
- Reflection techniques to deepen learning from service learning experiences
- Ethical considerations in service learning

本科目では，学生がコミュニティベースの学習を通じて社会貢献を行い，その過程で学的な（wissenschaftlich）な知識を深めていくプロセスをサービスラーニングと定め，そのための理論的背景，スキル等を高めることを目指します。具体的には以下を到達目標とします。
・サービスラーニングの理論，歴史の学修を通じて，それが現代社会においてどのような役割を果たすのかを理解できる
・地域社会のニーズを把握・分析し，それらに対する効果的な介入戦略を計画できる
・サービスラーニングの活動を通じてえられた経験から学び，そして，学的な知識を深めることができるリフレクションのスキルを身に付ける
・地域社会のメンバーや組織と協力してプロジェクトを計画・実施するためのスキル，および，個人として社会に積極的に貢献する意識と責任感を身に付ける
