【Course Objectives】

By the end of the course, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of local governance, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications. They will develop critical skills to analyze governance models and structures, assess the roles of key actors and components, and address local governance challenges and issues through informed and contextualized approaches.

【Course Contents】

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the field of local governance, exploring its broader perspectives, key concepts, and practical applications. It covers theories and models of local governance, examines current global practices, and encourages students to produce meaningful outputs. The first part of the course focuses on theories, concepts, and models of local governance as practiced in various countries. The second part highlights critical aspects of local governance, including its role in local development and the introduction of tools and methods for measuring local governance. Designed to empower students, the course fosters active participation in dialogues and enables them to draw insights from readings, case studies, personal experiences, and reflections on the subject of local governance.
