"The family" is the social structure that is the most familiar to us. That is why it is difficult to recognize the state of the specialty of own "family" and other "families". It is necessary to plunge "a family" into scientific context to catch them, and to lend it it. After that, I stare at "the family" along each theme to treat by a lecture again and aim for having you make a base when you think about own life design and social structure.
This course aims to critically examine the family not as a self-evident or universal unit, but as a historically, socially, and politically constructed institution. In order to understand contemporary forms of family, the course explores the historical backgrounds of family formation since the modern period, analyzing diverse case studies in relation to gender order, labor, state policies, and social norms.
In addition, the course focuses on diverse family forms that do not presuppose heteronormativity or rigid gendered divisions of labor, and considers both the challenges these families have faced and continue to face, as well as the possibilities that emerge from them. Through these inquiries, students are encouraged to rethink what “family” means and to develop a critical perspective on the reconfiguration of family and its political dimensions in contemporary society.

「家族」は、私たちに最も身近な社会構造である。それゆえに自分の「家族」の特殊性や、他の「家族」のありようを認めることはむずかしい。それらを捉えかえすために「家族」を学術的文脈に落とし込むことが必要である。その上で、講義で扱うそれぞれのテーマにそって「家族」をみつめなおし、自分自身の人生設計や社会の仕組みについて考える際の土台を作ってもらうことを目標とする。

本授業は、「家族」を自明で普遍的な単位として捉えるのではなく、歴史的・社会的・政治的に構築されてきた制度として批判的に検討することを目的とする。現代家族のありようを理解するために、近代以降の家族形成をめぐる歴史的背景を踏まえつつ、ジェンダー秩序、労働、国家政策、社会規範との関係を多様な事例から分析する。
あわせて、異性愛規範や性別役割分業を前提としない家族の多様な形態に注目し、それぞれの家族が直面してきた／直面している課題と、その中に見出される可能性について考察する。こうした検討を通じて、「家族」とは何かを問い直し、現代社会における家族の再編とその政治性を主体的に考える視座を養う。
なお、授業の進行状況等により、スケジュールは一部変更となる場合がある。
