3. The ability to understand the importance of transportation in regional revitalization and addressing social issues.
4. The ability to understand the relationship between the state of a region and its related transportation dynamics through various case studies.
Modern society functions through the movement of people and goods. Transportation phenomena serve as mechanisms that drive society, and notably, since the modern era, the development of transportation systems has expanded socio-economic activities.
In this course, we will understand the current state of transportation and its challenges in Japanese society and explore, from a geographical perspective, how to achieve sustainable transportation systems.

| 授業は，提示資料と板書および口頭解説で進行する．原則，パワーポイントによるスライド提示や詳細な資料（レジュメ）配付は行わないので留意のこと． |
地域を分析し，考えるには，社会の様々な動向や政治・経済の仕組みなど，広く身の周りで起こっていることに関心を持ち，冷静に物事を判断できることが必要である．日頃から新聞などに目を通し，自分にとって関心の高い課題を見出すこと．とくにネット上から得る特定の情報のみならず，新聞やテレビなど，広くマスコミで取り扱われる事象について，敏感になること．
授業では，とくに日本国内の地域を事例として挙げることが多々あるので，普段から地図を眺め，場所が思い浮かぶようになること．

現代社会はヒトかモノが移動することで成立している．交通現象は社会を動かす仕組みであり，とりわけ近代以降，交通機関の発達によって社会経済活動を拡大させてきた．
この授業では，とくに日本社会において交通を取り巻く現状と課題を捉え，持続可能な交通システムをいかに目指すか，地理学の視点をもとに考えていく．
Modern society functions through the movement of people and goods. Transportation phenomena serve as mechanisms that drive society, and notably, since the modern era, the development of transportation systems has expanded socio-economic activities.
In this course, we will understand the current state of transportation and its challenges in Japanese society and explore, from a geographical perspective, how to achieve sustainable transportation systems.
