本授業は、１９９０年代以降に広まったグローバリゼーションの現象を把握し、その社会に対する影響を検討することを目的としている。国を超えての人やモノの移動は、数千年前から起こっていた。それが１９９０年代以降に起きたグローバリゼーションがどのような点で特異なのかをまず確認する。第２にグローバリゼーションが、政治・経済・社会にいかなる影響を及ぼしているのかを考える。第３に、グローバリゼーションが人々の生活にいかなる影響を及ぼしているのかを検討する。そのような状況のもと、国家の持つ意味も変容しました。
また、グローバリゼーションは、人々生活にも大きな影響を与えました。人の国際的移動が活発化し、世界経済の変容が直接人々の生活に影響を与えました。本講義では、特にグローバリゼーションが人々の生活に与えた影響に注目します。

本講義では、まず1990年代以降に見られたグローバリゼーションの現象を考察します。次にそうしたグローバリゼーションが経済に与えた影響、国家の在り方の変容、社会に与えた影響を考察します。経済は1980年代以前は、一国単位で経済が構成され、それらが貿易や投資により国際経済を形成していました。しかし、グローバリゼーション後は、多国籍企業が主体となり、貿易のみならず資本の移動が大幅に増大しました。このことは、国境や国家の性格を変容させました。そのような状況の下、それまでの福祉国家の変容や国際レジームの拡大が起こりました。他方、グローバリゼーションは多角的に社会に影響を与えました。移民の拡大とそれに伴う問題。社会的格差の拡大。国境を越えた社会保障の問題等々です。そして、グローバリゼーション自体も変容を遂げつつあります。本講義ではこうした内容を扱います。
