From a management perspective, nonprofit organizations (NPOs) face challenges that for-profit organizations do not face, and knowledge of management is essential for NPOs to continue their activities. The purpose of this course is to deepen understanding of non-profit organizations (NPOs) and, based on that understanding, to learn about the characteristics of NPO management.
One of the characteristics of the modern society we live in is the emergence of various problems that we have never experienced before. Many of these problems are difficult to solve by the governments, local governments, or commercial companies that have traditionally supported our lives, and this is where expectations are high for the activities of NPOs.
In this course, students will understand the characteristics of NPOs from the perspective of their activities and organizational structure. Furthermore, students will learn about the characteristics of NPO management from the perspective of management resources by comparing them with for-profit companies that have been accumulated so far, and highlight the differences. Based on this, students will examine the various management challenges that NPOs face using actual NPO case studies, and consider solutions to these challenges.

非営利組織（NPO）は、マネジメントの視点から見ると、営利組織にはない困難さがあり、NPOが継続して活動を続けていくためにはマネジメントにかかわる知識が不可欠である。この科目は、NPOについての理解を深め、その理解にのっとってNPOのマネジメントの特徴について学ぶことを目的とする。

私たちが暮らす現代社会の特徴として、これまで経験したことのないようなさまざまな課題の顕在化があげられる。これらの課題は、従来、私たちの生活を支えてきた政府や自治体あるいは営利企業によっては解決することが困難なものが多く、そこにNPOの活動に対する期待がある。
この科目では、NPOの特徴をその活動や組織の在り方から理解する。さらに、ヒト、モノ、カネなど経営資源の視点から、NPOのマネジメントの特徴を、これまで蓄積された営利企業との比較から学び、その違いを浮きあがらせる。そのうえで、実際のNPOの事例からNPOが直面するさまざまなマネジメント上の課題について検討し、その解決策について考える。
