This course is an elective capstone course in the Department of Community Development. Under the supervision of faculty members, students identify and explore their own research interests, and compile the outcomes of their research and practical work into either a Seminar Paper or a Graduation Thesis.
In this course, students will sociologically explore various issues in contemporary society and present their findings in the form of an academic paper. Specifically, students will examine topics such as mobility and community formation, boundary construction, belonging and identity, image of place, urban redevelopment, tourism and symbolic consumption, urban festivals and events, urban ethnicity, and more.
In the spring semester, students will define their own research themes based on their individual interests, conduct literature reviews and preliminary case studies, and develop a research proposal. Additionally, students will be organized into subgroups based on similarities in theme, theory, and methodology to read and discuss introductory sociology textbooks and foundational classical texts.

コミュニティ政策学科での学修の集大成となる選択科目である。各教員の指導の下、各自の問題関心を探究し，その研究・実践の成果を取りまとめ、「演習論文」または「卒業論文」を作成する。
本クラスでは、現代社会の諸問題を社会学的に探究し、その成果を学術論文の形式で発表する。とくに移動（モビリティ）とコミュニティ形成、境界の構築、帰属とアイデンティティ、場所イメージ、都市再開発、観光と記号消費、都市祭礼・イベント、都市エスニシティ等について探究する。

春学期には、各自の問題関心に沿って研究テーマを定め、先行研究レビューや予備的な事例研究を行い、研究計画を作成する。テーマ、理論、方法が近い者同士でサブグループをつくり、社会学の概説的なテキストや重要古典などの講読を行う。
