This course is an elective capstone course in the Department of Community Development. Under the supervision of faculty members, students identify and explore their own research interests, and compile the outcomes of their research and practical work into either a Seminar Paper or a Graduation Thesis.
This seminar is based on the theme of “community development”. Until now, “community development” has been the subject of study in the fields of science and technology. However, in the current climate, where the uniqueness and sustainability of communities are emphasized, there is a need for a liberal arts education that can interpret the context of a community and re-establish social relationships. The aim of this seminar is to produce human resources who can contribute to community development in both practical and research terms.
This seminar is structured around two pillars: “Practice” and “Research.”
1) Practical Activities
Students will participate in community activities within Nagano Prefecture's rural farming and mountain villages. After conducting field research, developing activity plans, and completing preparatory work, students will collaborate with local actors to experience projects and activities that enhance the value of the place.
2) Research Activities
Students will develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills through reading academic papers and presenting research. After learning foundational regional theories, each student will plan research on a topic of personal interest, presenting and engaging in repeated discussions.
In 2A, the focus will be primarily on practical activities.

コミュニティ政策学科での学修の集大成となる選択科目です。各教員の指導の下，各自の問題関心を探究し，その研究・実践の成果を取りまとめ，「演習論文」または「卒業論文」を作成します。
このゼミは〈まちづくり〉をテーマとするゼミです。これまで〈まちづくり〉は理工系の分野が扱う対象でした。しかし，地域の固有性や持続可能性が重視される現在では，地域の文脈を読み解き，社会関係を結びなおす文系的素養が求められています。ゼミでは実践と研究の両面から，そうしたまちづくりの即戦力となる人材の輩出をめざしています。

このゼミは「実践」と「研究」を2つの軸として展開されます。
1）実践活動
長野県内の農山村をフィールドにした地域活動に参画します。フィールドについてのリサーチをして，活動計画を立案し，準備作業を進めた上で，地域のアクターとともに場所の価値を高める企画や活動を経験します。
2）研究活動
論文講読や研究発表を通じて論理的思考力や問題解決力を身につけます。地域の基礎的理論を学んだ上で，各自が興味のあるテーマについて調査を進め，学術論文を執筆します。
このうち，2Aでは実践活動を中心に取り組みます。
