This course is an elective capstone course in the Department of Community Development. Under the supervision of faculty members, students identify and explore their own research interests, and compile the outcomes of their research and practical work into either a Seminar Paper or a Graduation Thesis.
Students will conduct interview-based field research on NPOs, cooperatives, and social enterprises engaged in community development across a range of social issue contexts, including youth support, support for people experiencing economic hardship, multicultural coexistence, and regional revitalization in depopulated areas. Based on this research, students will write either a seminar paper or a graduation thesis. During the spring semester, students will primarily engage in reading literature relevant to their individual research themes, and during the summer recess, they will conduct interview surveys and work on the writing of their thesis.
During the spring semester, students will refine their individual research questions based on the fieldwork conducted through the third year of study, while engaging intensively with relevant academic literature. The materials to be examined will be selected in accordance with each student’s thesis topic. In addition, instruction will be provided on strategies and methods for producing high-quality academic writing. By the end of the spring semester, students will present a comprehensive thesis writing plan, including a research plan to be carried out during the summer recess.

これまでのヒアリング調査や3年次のゼミ論文を基盤にして、起承転結が明確でわかりやすい論文を書く能力が求められるが、基本的には、やる気と問題意識さえあれば、大丈夫！
コミュニティ政策学科での学修の集大成となる選択科目である。各教員の指導の下、各自の問題関心を探究し，その研究・実践の成果を取りまとめ、「演習論文」または「卒業論文」を作成する。
若者支援、生活困窮者支援、多文化共生、過疎地域における地域再生等、多様な社会問題の現場でコミュニティ開発を行っているNPO・協同組合・社会的企業についてヒアリング調査を実施し、それを元に演習論文、または卒業論文を執筆する。春学期には主として自らのテーマに即した文献を読み、夏季休暇中にヒアリング調査を実施して論文執筆に取り組む。

春学期は、3年次までのフィールドワーク調査を基盤にして、各自の問題意識を明確化し、併せて関連する文献の購読に集中する。取り扱う文献に関しては、参加者各自の論文テーマに合わせて選択する。また、より良い論文を書くためにはどうすれば良いかという点についても、指導を行う。春学期末には、これまでの学習成果を元に、夏季休業中の調査計画を含めた論文執筆計画について発表してもらう。
