1. The student will understand key issues in sport management and development.
2. The student will be familiar with a range of theoretical perspectives for analysing sport management and development.
3. The student will understand the historical background of sport management and development.
4. The student will be able to explain the basic structure of the sport industry and the role of stakeholders in relation to sport management and development.
Sport management is the field of business dealing with sports and recreation. And sport development consists of the development of sport (creating pathways for participation and talent development) and sport for development (using sport as a tool to achieve outcomes beyond sport). The aim of this course is to introduce students to the field of sport management and development, and provide a basic overview of the complex nature of the sport industry.
