This course will examine fundamental knowledge required for the management of sport by examining specific management practices in Japan compared to foreign countries. Students will deepen the understanding of the characteristics and issues of Japanese-style sport management from a global perspective.
With the aim of the overall development of sport, sport management is an organizational activity intended to promote human engagement with sport. Specifically, it constitutes a methodology for efficiently and effectively allocating and managing resources – such as personnel, materials, finances and information – within the management cycle of planning, organizing, leading and evaluating to create sport services and providing them to society. This course will examine the principles of general management applied to sport and discuss the necessity and methods of sport-specific management. Further, it will explore the characteristics and issues of Japanese-style sport management through international comparison.

国内外のスポーツ現場におけるマネジメントの具体的な実践を学び、スポーツをマネジメントするために必要な基礎知識や、グローバルな視点から日本的スポーツマネジメントの特徴や課題について理解する。
This course will examine fundamental knowledge required for the management of sport by examining specific management practices in Japan compared to foreign countries. Students will deepen the understanding of the characteristics and issues of Japanese-style sport management from a global perspective.
スポーツマネジメントは、人間とスポーツの関わりを促進することを意図し、スポーツの普及・発展あるいは高度化に関わる組織的活動である。具体的には、スポーツサービスを生み出し、人々に提供するために、計画化（planning）、組織化（organizing）、指導・指揮（leading）、評価（evaluating）というマネジメントサイクルにおいて、「ヒト・モノ・カネ・情報」といった経営資源を効率的・効果的に配分・管理する手法である。本授業では、マネジメントの原則がスポーツに応用され、スポーツ特有のマネジメントを行う必要性とその方法について講義する。また、主に学校体育・スポーツに「依存」してきた日本のスポーツには、スポーツ文化が「主体的」に創造され、「自立・自律」して実践されている海外のスポーツマネジメントに関する検討が有効とされているため、国際比較を通じて日本的スポーツマネジメントの特徴や課題を探求する。
