In this course, students will understand the basic knowledge of medical diseases and serious diseases that may occur during sports activities. The course also aims to provide students with the knowledge and attitude necessary to understand the points to keep in mind during the process of returning to sports after such illnesses, and to facilitate communication with related medical professionals.
The loss of life by an athlete during sports should never happen. However, this is a matter that can be brought close to zero, but not to zero. Therefore, everyone involved in sports needs to learn sports medicine (internal medicine) and learn to prevent unfortunate accidents. Sudden cardiac death, heat stroke, and anaphylactic shock are serious illnesses that can lead to death, and it is important to understand them. In addition, students should learn about the problems of female athletes, sports anemia, anti-doping, and other issues necessary for safe sports activities.

日本スポーツ協会公認アスレティックトレーナー（JSPO-AT）の資格取得に必須の科目である。
本科目では、スポーツ活動中に発症しうる内科疾患、更には重篤な疾患に関する基礎知識について理解する。また、これらの疾患からのスポーツへの復帰プロセスで留意すべき点を理解し、関連医療職とのコミュニケーションを円滑にすすめるための知識と態度の習得をねらいとする。

スポーツ中に選手が命を失うことは、絶対に起こしてはならない。しかし、これはゼロに近づけることはできるが、ゼロにはならない事柄である。そのため、スポーツに関連するすべての人が、スポーツ医学(内科)を学び、不幸な事故を予防するための知識を学ぶ必要がある。心疾患による突然死、熱中症、アナフィラキシーショックなどは、死につながる重篤な疾患であり、理解することは重要である。また、スポーツを行う上で、女性アスリートの問題、スポーツ貧血、アンチ・ドーピングなど、安心してスポーツを行う上で必要な知識を学ぶ。
