【Course Objectives】

In the overseas study, students will experience different cultures by interacting with local people and encountering different lifestyles, cultures, and values. In addition, the aim is to improve English proficiency in daily life, actively communicate with foreigners in a sporting environment, and acquire a global mindset.

【履修にあたって求められる能力 / Abilities Required to Take the Course】

It is recommended that students have an intermediate (CEFR-B1) English level or higher. This means achieving a grade "A" or higher in an English content class such as English Communication in Sport 1. Alternatively, students should have an English IELTS of 4.0 or TOEIC (L&R) of 450-500, or an equivalent. A face-to-face or Zoom interview may be necessary to assess a students’ suitable English proficiency.

Students will need to prepare for overseas travel.

Additional Guidance-Please understand due to unforeseen circumstances program schedule and /or activities may be modified without notice.
Course guidance explaining the details of the two-week overseas program is scheduled to be provided in January, 2026. The destination city is Victoria, B.C. CANADA and the targeted arrival is Saturday August 8, 2026. During the program students will be provided a homestay with 3 meals per day. The final homestay night is Friday, August 21, with homestay departure and return flight Saturday morning and arrival in Tokyo on Sunday, August 23..
A faculty member will attend the overseas program. A local coordinator (Camosun College) will supervise the homestay and program activities. The minimum number of participants for the overseas program is 10 people and the maximum number is 22.
・Students have to attend crisis management orientation in June. (The schedule will be noted later)
・Students have to attend an overseas insurance briefing. (The schedule will be provided later)
