This course will enhance students' comprehension of medieval historical materials and research papers concerning medieval Japanese history, and will promote students' preparations for writing their own theses.
(1) Reading and investigation on historical materials in medieval Japan
(2) Reviews on scholarly books and articles in the field of medieval Japan, focusing on Insei and Kamakura period (1086-1333)
(3) Research presentations by participants
With regard to (2) and (3), the detailed schedule will be decided in the first session in consultation with participants.

日本中世史に関する研究論文、および中世史料の読解力を向上し、各自の論文作成に向けての準備を促進する。
This course will enhance students' comprehension of medieval historical materials and research papers concerning medieval Japanese history, and will promote students' preparations for writing their own theses.
この授業では、日本中世の古記録史料の講読（輪読）を行う。具体的には、後白河院政期における古記録のうち、未翻刻の古記録史料を取り上げる。『兵範記』は、当該期を考える上での基本史料であるが、とくに平氏政権が専制化する治承３年から、内乱期に突入する時期に一部未翻刻部分が写本で伝えられている。これらの箇所を読解しながら、『兵範記』の全体や関連史料にも目を配り、各自の問題関心に従って参加者全員が毎回発表する。
授業の進め方は、毎回、報告者を決めて、分担個所について関連史料・研究文献を調査してもらい、そのレジュメをもとに参加者全員で討議を行う。
また、随時、参加者の研究テーマに関する個人報告を行う。
