The objectives of this course are to enable participants to understand the major historiographical developments in the study of Qing dynasty political history and to identify concrete research questions. Participants will also develop skills for the comprehensive and hierarchical identification of relevant historical sources, and acquire methodological competence in reading and interpreting primary materials.
Based on each participant’s individual research topic, this course provides practical training in research methodologies through the systematic analysis of historiography and historical sources. Participants will first review relevant scholarship and identify the administrative offices and officials related to their topic. They will then establish officials’ career trajectories and institutional structures, and proceed to collect and analyze related primary sources—such as imperial edicts, memorials to the throne, and administrative regulations—thereby practicing a step-by-step research process from source identification to analytical interpretation.

近世漢文の基礎的な読解力、辞書などのツール、史料（とくに清朝の上諭・上奏・各種規定・履歴情報）アクセス方法にかかわる基礎的な知識があることが期待される。
清朝政治史研究における研究史を理解して、課題を析出するとともに、関連史料の網羅的・階層的把握を行ったうえで、史料読解の方法を身につける。

受講生の各自の研究テーマに沿って、研究史を把握したうえで、関連する官僚の情報を網羅的に収集して分析する手法の実践を行う。具体的には、研究史を把握したうえで、テーマに関係する部局・官僚を特定して、履歴情報・構成員を確定し、関連する史料（上諭・上奏・各種規定など）を収集して分析するまでのプロセスを進める。
