Students will acquire a fundamental understanding of the historical development of social sciences in postwar Japan.
In the first half of the course, we will engage with introductory texts on the history of Japanese social sciences, reading them in combination with other relevant literature. The goal is to develop a foundational historical understanding of Japanese social sciences—essential knowledge for any social science researcher working in Japan, regardless of their specific field. We will begin with Daizaburo Hashizume's Adventures in Social Science and Takashi Ishida's Social Sciences in Japan. Subsequently, in consultation with students, we plan to examine Masumi Takeuchi's work on social science theory and Yoshio Yasumaru's methodological writings on people's intellectual history. This course is designed to complement Social Education Research II, where students will read primary sources from social movements and civic activities, interpreting them within their historical and social contexts. Given this coordination, Social Education Research I will focus on social and political theory.

本科目は社会教育研究2と連動しており、両科目をセットで履修することが原則である。両科目を連続して履修することで、理論と実践の両面を学ぶことができる。
戦後日本の社会科学の歴史的展開について基本的な理解を獲得する。
Students will acquire a fundamental understanding of the historical development of social sciences in postwar Japan.
前半では、日本の社会科学の歴史についての入門的なテキストを扱い、その他の文献と組み合わせながら読解していく。どの領域であろうと、日本で社会科学系の研究者である以上は知っておきたい基本的な日本の社会科学史に関する歴史理解を作ることがその内容である。具体的には、橋爪大三郎『冒険としての社会科学』、石田雄『日本の社会科学』から読み始める。その後は、受講者とも相談しながらであるが、竹内真澄の社会科学論や安丸良夫の民衆思想史の方法論を扱いたい。この授業は社会教育研究2と連動させて展開させる予定で、そちらでは社会運動・市民活動の一次資料を読みながら、それを時代や社会との接点で解釈する演習を行う。そうしたこともあり、こちらの授業（社会教育1）では、社会理論、政治理論的なものを扱いたいと考えている。
