The aim of the course is to expand the methodological repertoire available for advancing literary research, and to position students' interests within a wide range of intellectual areas related to literature and culture. The course will expect students to not only master critical theory but also, from there, to display thinking that cuts across modern critical research theories.
Using Ai Maeda "Bungaku-Text Nyumon", students will learn about basic concept in text theory and the latest trends in research methodology. The course will essentially adopt a seminar format, and students will understand each chapter of the text through discussions based on reports by course takers in charge of the assigned subject matter.

文学研究を進める上で利用可能な方法論的レパートリーを拡張し、文学や文化に関わる幅広い知的領域の中に自分の関心を位置づけることをねらいとします。単に批評理論をマスターするだけでなく、そこを起点に現代の批評研究理論を横断していく思考を期待します。

前田愛『文学テクスト入門』（ちくま学芸文庫）をテキストに、文学理論の重要な概念や、最新の研究方法論の動向について学びます。基本的に演習形式をとり、テキストの各章について、担当する受講者の報告に基づいた議論を通して理解していきます。
