The aim of the course is to expand the methodological repertoire available for advancing literary research, and to position students' interests within a wide range of intellectual areas related to literature and culture. The course will expect students to not only master critical theory but also, from there, to display thinking that cuts across modern critical research theories.
Using "Gender × Novel Guidebook", students will learn about basic concept in Gender studies and the latest trends in research methodology. The course will essentially adopt a seminar format, and students will understand each chapter of the text through discussions based on reports by course takers in charge of the assigned subject matter.

文学研究を進める上で利用可能な方法論的レパートリーを拡張し、文学や文化に関わる幅広い知的領域の中に自分の関心を位置づけることをねらいとします。単に批評理論をマスターするだけでなく、そこを起点に現代の批評研究理論を横断していく思考を期待します。

飯田裕子・小平麻衣子編『ジェンダー×小説 ガイドブック』（ひつじ書房）をテキストに、ジェンダー批評の重要な概念や、最新の研究方法論の動向について学びます。基本的に演習形式をとり、テキストの各章について、担当する受講者の報告に基づいた議論を通して理解していきます。

事前学習としては、担当者は分担した章について報告の準備をする。また、受講者は授業で扱う章をあらかじめ熟読しておき、討論に参加できる準備をする。
事後学習としては、授業で学んだ理論を実際の文学テクストに応用する実践を重ね、理論的な分析記述の経験を積むこと。
