In modern Japan, various literary works have been written that depict prostitutes (sex
workers). This class aims to provide students with the opportunity to read such works and to enable them to analyze the representation of prostitutes (sex workers) in fiction while relating it to trends surrounding the sex industry and changes in the gender order in modern Japan.
Students will read one story in each class.
After presenters give their presentations, all participants will have a discussion.

近現代日本では、「遊女」（セックスワーカーなど性産業で働く女性）を描く様々な文学作品が書かれた。この授業では、「遊女」を描く多様な文学作品を読み、近現代日本における性産業をめぐる動向やジェンダー秩序の変遷と関連付けながら、フィクションの中の「遊女」表象について考察できるようになることを目標とする。

「遊女」を描いた様々な作品（漫画、映画を含む）を読む（鑑賞する）。発表担当者がプレゼンテーションを行った後で、受講者全員でディスカッションを行う。
