1. To develop analytical skills in language and language education.
2. To acquire empirical approaches to analysis and apply them to the student's own research.
This course examines various issues concerning Sino-Japanese words and kanji in Japanese linguistics and related fields. While Sino-Japanese words are highly integrated into the Japanese linguistic system, they also retain aspects of linguistic distinctiveness. The course explores these characteristics from both diachronic and synchronic perspectives, and further considers them from the viewpoints of language education and society.
Building on the reading of academic papers in the spring semester, students will independently analyze linguistic phenomena and related issues in the fall semester. Through seminar-based exercises, the course aims to cultivate students’ ability to identify research topics and to develop empirical analytical skills.

日本語学及び関連分野における漢語・漢字をめぐる諸問題について考察する。漢語は日本語の体系の中に高度に融合した側面と、なお異質性を保持する側面とを併せ持っている。本授業では、こうした特性を通時的・共時的観点から観察するとともに、言語教育および社会的視点からも検討する。
春学期における論文講読を基盤として、秋学期には、言語現象および関連する諸問題を受講者自らが分析する。演習を通じて、研究テーマを見出す力および実証的分析力を養いたい。
