We will aim to become familiar with nineteenth-century French novels and learn the art of reading it.
We will read Gustave Flaubert's Madame Bovary (1857). Flaubert was one of the most frequently discussed writers by post-Nouvelle Critique, and reading representative criticism alongside a close reading of the text will serve as an initiation to serious literary study. We hope that while developing your reading comprehension of long novels, you will at the same time develop your own approach to literary research.

We will aim to become familiar with nineteenth-century French novels and learn the art of reading it.
ギュスターヴ・フローベールの『ボヴァリー夫人』（1857）を読む。フローベールはヌーヴェル・クリティック以後の批評によって最も頻繁に論じられた作家の一人であり、テクストの精読と並行して、代表的な批評を読むことにより、本格的な文学研究のイニシエーションにもなるだろう。長編小説の読解力を伸ばしながら、同時に自分なりの文学研究のアプローチを身につけてほしい。
