Students will master the techniques of comparative literature through reading novels, criticism, and essays.
Through close readings of Dostoevsky's final full-length novel, The Brothers Karamazov, Omori Shozo's philosophical fragment, The Flow and Stagnation, and Takemitsu Toru's confessional essay, Beyond the Distant Call, I hope to master the secret art of intuitive close reading that allows one to grasp art, religion, and the self, and to unravel the methods of comparative literature.

小説、批評、エッセイを読み解くことを通して比較文学の技法を体得します。
Students will master the techniques of comparative literature through reading novels, criticism, and essays.
ドストエフスキー最後の長編小説『カラマーゾフの兄弟』、大森荘蔵の哲学断章『流れとよどみ』、武満徹の告白的エッセイ『 遠い呼び声の彼方へ』を織り交ぜて細密読解することを通して、芸術・宗教・自己を捉える直観精読の秘術を体得することをめざし、比較文学の方法を解き明かしたいと思います。
