We will aim to capture the continuity between film art and language.
Focusing on interviews with directors and film crews from all 14 issues of Quarterly Lumière (1985-88), edited by Shigehiko Hasumi, and based on those interviews, We will critique each cineaste's work from our own perspectives. Through this, we will consider the relationship between images and language. At the same time, by clarifying the “absence” in Lumière, we will consider the possibility of critically inheriting the aims of this critical journal.

We will aim to capture the continuity between film art and language.
蓮實重彦責任編集の『季刊リュミエール』誌全14号 （1985〜88年） から、とりわけ、監督、撮影スタッフのインタヴューを中心に取り上げ、それを踏まえ、各シネアストの作品を自らの視座から批評することを通して、映像と言語との関係について考察します。それと同時に、『リュミエール』における〈不在〉を明らかにすることで、この批評誌の企図を批判的に継承する可能性についても検討します。
