Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1 Understand retail strategy and the logic of strategic planning process
2 Evaluate retail business models and governance structures in retail
3 Explain the principles of omnichannel retail strategies
4 Assess internationalization strategies in retail
The retail industry is undergoing rapid transformation, with digitalization and omnichannel retailing reshaping the competitive landscape. This shift requires retail organizations to rethink and innovate their strategies, business models, and channel management. This course helps students develop a solid understanding of how to analyze the evolving retail environment and how to design and implement customer-centric retail strategies that create value for both customers and businesses. Adopting a holistic perspective, the course prepares students to address the complexities of modern retailing and to develop innovative strategies and business model solutions for diverse market contexts. Specifically, the course focuses on three interrelated themes: 1) Retail strategies, 2) Retail business models, and 3) Omnichannel management. The course also examines internationalization in retailing. The learning experience is built around lectures, teaching cases and teamwork, encouraging students to apply theory to practice in collaborative settings.
