備考/ NotesNotes |
This course equips students with the various fundamental theories of development economics that presents a picture of how theory relates to the actual problems in the developing nations. The ultimate goal of this course is to expand the students’ analytical frameworks for the master desertions.
Development economics is a branch of economics that deals with the economic aspects of the development process in low-income countries and covers various policy issues such as economic growth, poverty, inequality, education, fertility, urbanization, rural stagnation, environmental decay, trade, investment, government role in the market economy, development aid, and so on. The social and political factors of development economics frequently play more significant roles in its analysis than those of other branches of economics.
Due to time constraints, this course covers key empirical research and policy debates on income growth and distribution, with a special emphasis on statistical causal inference in development economics. Through computer workshops, students acquire basic empirical analysis skills using the widely used statistical analysis software "Stata".

This course is designed specifically for graduate students and includes technical aspects that require a fundamental understanding of mathematics and economics. Undergraduate exchange students may take this course; however, I regret to inform you that I have observed that struggle to keep up with its demands. I strongly advise those considering it to evaluate their commitment to academic efforts before enrolling.
