備考/ NotesNotes |
This course introduces students to the key issues in development economics and provides a picture of how the theory relates to problems in developing countries. The ultimate goal of the course is to enhance students' analytical skills for empirical research.
Development economics examines various issues in low-income countries, including growth, poverty, inequality, education, urbanization, rural stagnation, environmental decay, trade, investment, governance, and aid. The course focuses on empirical research and policy debates on growth, inequality, poverty, and causal inference analysis. Students will develop skills essential for advanced empirical analysis using Stata software.

Stata programming skills are a prerequisite.
This course, designed for graduate students, covers technical topics that require a basic understanding of statistics, microeconomics, and macroeconomics. Many non-MPMA students have found the course challenging; therefore, I strongly encourage prospective non-MPMA students to carefully assess their commitment and preparedness before enrolling. Undergraduate exchange students are not eligible for this course.
