In today's academic landscape, English is the primary language of academic communication, with most significant research being published in English-language journals and shared through professional correspondence. Graduate students increasingly write research papers, present at international conferences, and engage in scholarly discussions across borders. Within Japan, collaboration with international students has become integral to the research environment, requiring practical English communication skills in both written and spoken forms. Moreover, even academic conferences in Japan are increasingly adopting English as their official language. This course aims to equip students with the confidence and skills to effectively present their research findings, write academic papers, and participate in intellectual exchanges in English.
This course provides comprehensive training in academic English, focusing on field-specific terminology and practical research communication. Students will master the essential skills of writing research abstracts and confidently articulating their research. Through hands-on experience, participants will deliver presentations using their prepared slides and engage in Q&A sessions, simulating real conference scenarios. The course also covers professional development elements, including crafting effective CVs (Curriculum Vitae), cover letters, and professional email correspondence. Course content and learning objectives may be tailored to accommodate students' English proficiency levels and class size to ensure optimal learning outcomes.

多くの科学論文は英語で出版され、国際学会に参加し研究成果を発表・討論する機会が増えている。また、日本にいながらも海外からの留学生ともに、グローバルな環境で研究を行いコミュニケーションをとることも現在では珍しいことではなくなった。更に、国内開催であっても公用語に英語を取り入れる学会が増えてきているため、自身の研究成果をより効果的に自信を持って英語で発表し、討論できる能力を身につけることを目標として授業を進める。

基本的に必要な化学英語の語彙や便利な表現法などを身につける。次に、自身の研究について概要を英語で記載し、口頭でも自信をもって話せるように指導する。更に、発表用のスライドを作成し、発表と質疑応答の機会を設ける。その他、授業では、実用的な英語表現や、就職などに役立つCurriculum Vitae (CV)の書き方、及びcover letterやe-mailの書き方なども紹介する。履修した学生の英語のレベル及び履修者数によって、授業の内容（発表の機会等）及び目標を変更する場合がある。
