In this course, students will read and discuss domestic and international literature on the relationships between social changes such as shifts in industry, demographic changes, policy and institutional changes, globalisation, and individualisation and family, with the aim of acquiring a theoretical framework for understanding family in modern society.
In recent years, interest in the relationship between society and the family has grown not only within family sociology but across diverse fields of the social sciences, leading to an increase in research activity. This reflects the societal demand for the development of laws and institutions to address issues surrounding the family – such as gender, labour, care, and poverty – which have become increasingly apparent amid social change.
This lecture explores these social changes and the current research trends concerning the family both domestically and internationally. It will involve not only reading and discussing relevant literature on these research trends, but may also include opportunities for participants to report on how they apply these insights to their own research topics.

講読文献は、受講者の関心も踏まえて初回に提示する。初回に文献の紹介と割り当てを行うので、履修希望者は、初回の講義には必ず出席すること。
本講義では、産業の変化や人口学的変化、政策・制度の変化、グローバル化、個人化などの社会の変化と家族の関連をめぐる国内外の文献を講読し、ディスカッションすることで、現代社会における家族を捉えるための理論的枠組みの習得を目指す。
In this course, students will read and discuss domestic and international literature on the relationships between social changes such as shifts in industry, demographic changes, policy and institutional changes, globalisation, and individualisation and family, with the aim of acquiring a theoretical framework for understanding family in modern society.
近年、社会と家族の関連については、家族社会学だけでなく多様な社会科学の領域でも関心がもたれ研究が活性化している。それは、社会変化の中で家族をめぐるジェンダー、労働、ケア、貧困などの諸問題が顕在化するなかで、社会として法や制度の整備が求められていることを示すものといえる。
本講義では、こうした社会と家族に関する国内外の研究動向を学ぶ。研究動向に関する文献の講読だけでなく、受講者に各自の研究テーマへの応用を報告してもらう場合もある。
