In this course, students will read English literature on out-of-school education (so-called "shadow education") and inequality in East Asian societies, including Japan, China, South Korea, and Taiwan. Students will gain an insight for thinking about educational inequality in non-Western contexts, comparing it with the Western context. Each participants will give a presentation on the assigned literature and engage in class discussions together.
The course will explore English literature on the topics of shadow education and inequality. All the participants in this course are required to read the literature and prepare comments in advance in order to make the discussion fruitful. However, since this is a course aimed at graduate students, there will be some flexibility in the course structure to accommodate the interests of the participants.

初回に文献の紹介および各回の担当者の割り当てを行うので、履修希望者は初回の授業に必ず出席すること。大学院生を対象とする授業なので、上の内容をベースとしつつも、受講生の関心によっては文献を含め一定程度柔軟に運用する余地を残す。
この授業では、日本や中国、韓国、台湾などの東アジア社会における学校外教育（影の教育）と不平等にかんする英語文献を読むことを通じ、非欧米圏における教育機会の不平等を欧米圏の文脈と比較しながら考えるための視野を獲得する。文献の報告担当者は内容に関するプレゼンを行う。報告担当以外の受講生も事前に文献を読んで授業に臨み、全員でディスカッションを行う。

学校外教育（影の教育）と不平等にかんする英語文献を取り上げる。各回について文献レビュー担当を割り振るが、ディスカッションを実りあるものとするために出席者は全員事前に文献を読み、コメントを用意してくることが求められる。ただし、大学院生を対象とした授業のため、受講者の関心に合わせて一定程度柔軟に運用する余地を残すものとする。
The course will explore English literature on the topics of shadow education and inequality. All the participants in this course are required to read the literature and prepare comments in advance in order to make the discussion fruitful. However, since this is a course aimed at graduate students, there will be some flexibility in the course structure to accommodate the interests of the participants.
