【授業の目標 / Course Objectives】

社会運動研究のフロンティアについて、具体的な事例研究を通じて学び、近年の社会現象について考察する力を身につけることを目標とする。

The goal is to learn about the frontiers of social movement studies through concrete case and to acquire the ability to consider recent social phenomena.

【授業の内容 / Course Contents】

社会運動は20世紀末に大きく停滞しているように見えた。それは、冷戦の「終結」や社会主義の「崩壊」が背景にある。しかし、同時に、市民革命を通じたデモクラシーを追求する社会運動は、普遍的な行動原理であり続けている。ただし、マジョリティと言える「強い市民」による社会運動のトレンドを見ているだけでは、正確にはその現象はフォローできないだろう。本授業では、社会運動研究のフロンティアについて、マイノリティによる社会運動の歴史と現在にフォーカスする。具体的に、障害学、フェミニズム、寄せ場研究、クィアスタディーズ、ダイアスポラ・移民研究など、「社会的弱者」とされる人たちの実践に関する研究の蓄積を幅広く取り上げる。社会運動研究の最新の研究成果の中から、受講者の関心に即して、検討対象を定め、考究していく。受講者による報告と全体でのディスカッションを通じて、議論を深めていく。

Social movements seemed to have stagnated significantly at the end of the 20th century. This was due to the "end" of the Cold War and the "collapse" of socialism. However, at the same time, social movements that pursue democracy through civil revolution remain a universal principle of action. However, this phenomenon cannot be accurately followed by just looking at the trends of social movements by "strong citizens" who can be said to be the majority. This lecture will focus on the history and present of social movements by "minorities" in the frontier of social movement studies. Specifically, we will take up a wide range of accumulated research on the practices of people who are considered to be "socially vulnerable," such as disability studies, feminism, homeless studies, queer studies, and diaspora/immigration studies. From the latest research results in social movement studies, we will select and examine the subject of our study according to the interests of the graduates. We will deepen the discussion through reports by the graduates and a general discussion.
