Notes

【Course Objectives】

Students are expected to read at least one book on the United States or Australia (Public Health & Law is scheduled for this year) and to have a good understanding of the basic issues of the topic. At the same time, students are expected to be able to read 30-40 pages of English literature at a time and to be able to explain in their own words.

【Course Contents】

Students are expected to read 30-40 pages of comparative law literature (English literature related to medicine and law, etc.) from the United States, Australia, and other countries at a speed of 30-40 pages per session, and to prepare handouts for each session. All students are expected to make a very intensive effort. As described below, we have Public Health Law in mind as a theme for this year.
We would appreciate it if you could contact us at iwata-f(at mark) kanagawa-u.ac.jp in advance to discuss the textbooks and other materials. We plan to read at least one book (150-200 pages) (or two books) (300-400 pages) in a semester.
Parmet, Wendy E.. Constitutional Contagion: COVID, the Courts, and Public Health (English Edition) (p.iii). Cambridge University Press. Kindle 版.
Students are expected to actively participate in the class. I will ask students to make presentations and comments on each topic, based on the assumption that they have read the course materials (distributed or prepared by each student), and we will discuss them.
