The purpose of this course is acquiring the ability to accurately translate and comprehend foreign-language literature concerning the law of criminal procedure.
Students read foreign-language papers on criminal procedure law and discuss their content. Themes and literature will be selected based on students' interests.

履修者には、授業の予習・事前準備として、担当範囲の全訳を自力で作成してもらう。
その際には、単に外国語文献の訳文をするのではなく、その内容を正確に理解し、かつ、我が国の対応する問題にも目を向ける必要がある。
そのゆえ、授業内外問わず、普段から、外国語の読解力（刑事訴訟法に関する専門用語や文法についての知識・理解を含む）の向上に努める必要がある。また、少なくとも、取り扱う文献のトピックに関しては、我が国の刑事訴訟法学においてどのような議論がされているかについて理解をしておく必要がある。

刑事訴訟法に関する外国語の論文を精読し、その内容について議論する。テーマや文献については、履修者の興味を踏まえて設定する。
