Students will form a multifaceted understanding of why China faced crisis in the modern age and how it proceeded to deal with that crisis based on China’s political and economic systems since the early modern period. Simultaneously, they will be enabled to grasp research trends in the history of the political economy in modern China and present future challenges.
Students will read reference texts in Japanese on key topics in the history of the political economy in modern China, give a report that presents an abstract of those topics and associated discussion points, and engage in discussion based on that report.

近世以来の中国の政治経済体制をふまえたうえで、中国はなぜ近代に危機に直面し、その危機に対していかに対処していったのかを多面的に理解する。同時に、近代中国の政治経済史の研究動向を把握し、今後の課題を呈示できるようにする。

近代中国の政治経済史の主要なテーマについて、受講者は日本語の参考文献を読んで要旨と論点を呈示する報告を行い、それに基づいてディスカッションを行う。
