The objective of this course is to deepen understanding of the transformation of politics in China and Hong Kong from a perspective grounded in history and current realities, and to enhance students' ability to conduct independent research and produce reports and papers based on this knowledge.
In recent years, Chinese politics has been marked by the suppression of civil society and the strengthening of authoritarian rule under the Party's control. Even in Hong Kong, under Chinese governance, the implementation of the National Security Law in 2020 has seen the expansion of Chinese-style governance. We shall examine why such drastic changes have occurred through the close reading of relevant literature. Furthermore, in the latter part of the course, drawing upon the content covered, students will deliver research presentations as part of their preparation for writing their master's theses and research papers.

この授業の目標は中国と香港の政治の変質について、歴史と現状を踏まえた視点から理解を深めることと、その知見をもとに、自身の研究を行い、報告や論文作成の能力を高めることである。

中国政治は近年、市民社会の制圧と党の支配による強権化が顕著である。中国の統治下にある香港でも、2020年に国家安全維持法が施行され、中国式の統治が広がりつつある。こうした激変がなぜ発生したのかを、文献を講読することによって考える。また、授業の後半では、本授業の内容を参照しつつ、受講者は自身の修士論文およびリサーチ・ペーパー作成のための準備の一環として、研究報告を行う。
