The objective of this course is to provide students with a foundation in global sociology, thereby enabling them to comprehend the world as a unit to analyze complex social life. The course aims to facilitate the formulation of problem statements regarding the fundamental issues of globalization, and the examination of contemporary issues in global societies from a sociological perspective.
Recent decades have witnessed a series of multi-dimensional changes that have profoundly influenced our modes of existence and our ability to comprehend the world. This course, therefore, undertakes an examination of the globalization of social life by exploring the various sub-themes that survey the economic, cultural, and political processes. The sub-themes include theories of globalization, the global economy, political globalization, globalization and culture, civil society, migration, environmental changes, and inequalities.
