The goal is to achieve a fundamental understanding of “Art-Based Educational Research.”
Art seems to be perceived as a special activity conducted outside the framework of daily life. However, art is inherently embedded within various everyday activities, and it could be said that each person lives with art as their own unique survival technique. In this term's course, we will learn about ABER through a critical examination of Socially Engaged Art (SEA).
Re-examining the concept of art and re-weaving the relationship between art and society can bring about changes in people's ways of living and their sense of well-being. Using art as a lens, we will rethink society, objects, and humanity, and together with students, envision a “new world.” We welcome participation from anyone interested in these ideas, even those who have not previously been interested in so-called art.
The course will proceed by reading common assigned texts related to the theme and deepening discussions. Guest talks, including international guests, will be held, and field trips to relevant sites may occur. Student research presentations and data sessions will be conducted as needed. Students will take turns chairing and presenting on the assigned readings, so thorough preparation beforehand is essential. A final summary report will be submitted after the course to confirm understanding. As this is a small seminar, the course content may be adjusted in consultation with the students. Graduate students from other graduate schools, research institutes, and majors are also welcome to enroll.

授業の目標およびすべての評価方法において、前期課程よりも高度な達成水準を要求する。
「アートに基づいた教育研究（Arts-Based Educational Research）」の基本的理解を目標とする。
The goal is to achieve a fundamental understanding of “Art-Based Educational Research.”
一般にアートは日常生活の枠外で行われる特別な活動だと捉えられているようである。しかし、本来、アートは日常の様々な活動に埋め込まれており、さらにそれぞれの人は自分独自の生存技法としてアートとともに生きているともいえる。今期の授業では、ソーシャリー・エンゲージド・アート（SEA）の批判的検討を行うことで、ABERについて学ぶ。
アート概念の捉え直しと、アートと社会の関係の編み直しは、人々の生き方や幸福感の変更をもたらす。アートを切り口として、社会、物、人間の再考を行い、「新しい世界」を履修者と共に構想したい。そうしたことに関心がある人であれば、いままでいわゆるアートに関心がなかった人でも楽しめるであろう。
授業の進め方としては、テーマに関わる共通課題文献を読み、議論を深める。海外ゲストを含め、ゲストトークを行ったり、関連フィールドへ出かけることもある。必要に応じて履修者の研究報告、データ・セッションも随時行いたい。共通課題論文は輪番で司会や報告が求められるので、十分時間を掛けて事前準備をしてほしい。授業後には総括レポートを提出し、理解の確認を行う。小規模な演習であるため、履修者と相談の上、授業内容が変更されることもある。他大学院、他研究科、他専攻の大学院生の履修も歓迎する。
