This course examines multiple “Suten-doji Emaki” scrolls, focusing on interpreting their accompanying texts and analyzing the paintings. By reading the scrolls' texts written in cursive kana (Hentaigana） and striving to grasp the characteristics of their pictorial expression, students will acquire art historical research methods applicable to their own research and thesis writing.
This course examines multiple early modern “Shuten-dōji Emaki” scrolls, analyzing both their narrative texts and illustrations. It also explores the production contexts and historical characteristics discernible from these works, along with the broader landscape of narrative picture scrolls, particularly those from the 17th century. While lectures will be conducted online, students will be assigned sections of the narrative texts to read each week and submit transcriptions via the LMS for sharing. Prior knowledge of classical Japanese language and literature, along with basic skills in reading variant kana, is desirable for this course. Additionally, a museum visit (to an art museum or museum in Tokyo) will be arranged to aid understanding of the course content (transportation and admission fees are the responsibility of the student. The visit date may change to coincide with an appropriate exhibition period). This course is specifically designed to support the research of students whose thesis topics focus on premodern Japanese literature.

日本の古典文学を原文で読むための基礎知識（古文および変体仮名の読解能力）
授業の目標およびすべての評価方法において、前期課程よりも高度な達成水準を要求する。
近世に制作された複数の「酒呑童子絵巻」を取りあげ、詞書の読解と絵の分析を行う。古語・変体仮名（くずし字）で書写された絵巻の詞書を読み、絵画表現の特徴の把捉に努めることにより、各自の修士論文執筆に活用しうる美術史の研究方法を身につけることを目標とする。

近世に制作された複数の「酒呑童子絵巻」を取りあげ、詞書の読解と絵の分析を行う。あわせて、作品から読み取れる制作背景や時代性、十七世紀を中心とする物語絵の概況についても講じる。講義はオンラインを交えるが、受講者は毎回、詞書の読解を分担し、LMSを通じて翻刻を提出・共有する。受講にあたっては、古語・古文の知識と変体仮名読解の基本的な知識があることが望ましい。また、授業内容の理解に役立つ展覧会の見学（都内美術館・博物館）を実施する予定である（交通費・入館券の購入は受講者負担。実施回は適切な展覧会の会期にあわせて変更する可能性がある）。この授業は、特に、前近代の日本文学を博士論文のテーマとする学生の研究に資するよう、計画されている。
