Students will be able to examine historical issues in the Japanese language using quantitative methods.
In this class, students will examine and discuss historical issues of the Japanese language based on metrolinguistic methodology, aiming to understand knowledge about metrolinguistics and the history of the Japanese language, as well as to acquire research skills.

日本語の歴史的な問題について、計量的な手法を用いて検討できるようになる。

Students will be able to examine historical issues in the Japanese language using quantitative methods.
日本語の歴史についての研究は、さまざまな方法でなされてきた。その中には、対象の言語要素の数量に着目した方法（計量言語学）が存在する。計量的手法を用いることで、言語事象について客観的に検討することが可能となる。
本授業では、計量言語学的な方法論に基づいて日本語の歴史的な問題について検討し、議論する中で、計量言語学と日本語史に関する知識を理解し、また研究上の技術を身につけることを目指す。
