After completing the course, students should be able to write basic essays, research outline, and summaries of academic works (e.g. master's theses) in German, as well as deliver scientific presentations in German.
The course is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to apply scientific work in German essays and presentations. The focus is on the linguistic means for the precise formulation of hypotheses and arguments, the structure of a scientific text or presentation, as well as academic vocabulary and common scientific phrases. Throughout the semester, students will prepare their own short texts and sample presentations, which will be corrected by the instructor and discussed in the plenary. In addition, authentic scientific texts and presentation manuscripts will be analyzed and made fruitful for one's own work. By the end of the semester, students will be expected to write their own essay of the length of a short essay and give a pressentation on it.

For Course Objectives and every evaluation criterion, a higher level of achievement than master's students is required.
Die Studierenden sollen nach Absolvierung des Kurses in der Lage sein, in der Zielsprache Deutsch einfache Essays, Forschungsskizzen und Zusammenfassungen wissenschaftlicher Arbeiten (z.B. Masterarbeiten) zu verfassen sowie wissenschaftliche Kurzreferate auf Deutsch zu halten.

Der Kurs beinhaltet die Anwendung wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens in deutschsprachigen Essays und Referaten. Im Zentrum stehen die sprachlichen Mittel zur Präzisen Formulierung von Hypothesen und Argumenten, der Aufbau eines wissenschaftliches Textes bzw. eines Vortrages sowie allgemein das akademische Fachvokabular und gebräuchliche wissenschaftliche Phrasen. Die Studierenden bereiten dafür im Laufe des Semesters eigene kurze Texte und Probereferate vor, die vom Dozenten korrigiert und im Plenum diskutiert werden. Ferner werden authentische wissenschaftliche Texte und Vortragsmanuskripte analysiert und für die eigene Arbeit fruchtbar gemacht. Am Ende des Semesters sollen die Studierenden einen eigenen Essay in der Länge eines Kurzaufsatzes verfassen und ein Referat dazu halten.
