【Course Objectives】

By the end of the course, students should be able to achieve the followings in the context of sport and exercise psychology:
a) Understand the recommended procedures and methods to review literature systematically,
b) Conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of empirical studies,
c) Present the summary of the systematic review of the studies, and
d) Write up a report on the systematic review of the studies with a meta-analysis.

【Course Contents】

This course is designed to provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills to conduct systematic review and meta-analyses adequately. Students are required to identify a psychological technique or an intervention approach to enhance individual’s motivation or performance or change their behaviors in the field of sport and exercise psychology. They will work on a systematic review and meta-analysis of the effectiveness of the technique or intervention they are interested in.

Doctoral student’s performance will be evaluated more critically than Master’s students. Doctoral students are required to write up a systematic review paper with and meta-analyses, which can be published in a peer-review journal.

Student Academic Integrity
Academic misconduct such as plagiarism and unauthorized use of other's work leads to a disqualification for the final grade, regardless of the number of misconduct.

Statements on the AI Use
In this course, the generative AI tools may be used for brainstorming, refining ideas, or draft assistance. However, students are not allowed to copy AI-generated texts and images into individual and group assignments. Students must cite any AI-generated materials adequately whenever they use them. Unacknowledged use of AI-generated materials is treated as academic misconduct and would result in disciplinary consequences (e.g., a failing grade).
