This course aims to deepen the understanding of wellness by examining the meaning of human life using the movie “Gaia Symphony” and materials of the photographer “Michio Hoshino”. Based on this premise, students aim to construct their own "view of wellness”, present it in class for discussion and reexamination to brush it up.
The movie "Gaia Symphony" is a documentary film based on the Gaia theory, which is the idea that the earth is one living organism, and has become a bible for those who are interested in environmental issues and human spirituality. Further, the photographs and writings of "Michio Hoshino" also provide very important insights into environmental issues and human spirituality. Using these materials, this course will discuss topics like "the state of the natural environment and human beings" and "the diversity of ways of life" based on the premise of "living better”.

ウエルネスとは何かを理解し、人間が生きることの意味について、映画『ガイアシンフォニー』と写真家『星野道夫』を題材として考察する。それを前提に、自分自身の「ウエルネス観」を構築し、それを授業で発表し、議論の上再検討を加えブラッシュアップする。
This course aims to deepen the understanding of wellness by examining the meaning of human life using the movie “Gaia Symphony” and materials of the photographer “Michio Hoshino”. 映画『ガイアシンフォニー』は、ガイア理論、すなわち“地球は一つの生命体である”という考え方をベースに作成されたドキュメンタリー映画であり、環境問題や人間の精神性に関心を寄せる人たちのバイブル的存在となっている。また、『星野道夫』の写真や文章も、環境問題や人の精神性を考えるうえで、とても重要な示唆を与えてくれる。本授業では、この２つを題材として、“よりよく生きる”ことを前提とし、”自然環境と人間の在り方”、”生き方の多様性”などの点について議論する。
