The objective of this course is to acquire historical research methods and, based on this understanding, to examine the positioning and role of tourism from the perspective of modern and contemporary history.
In this course, students will study the modern and contemporary history of Kusatsu Onsen through literature readings. Each class will involve repeated student reports and discussions to examine the impact of "modern tourism" on hot spring resorts.

本授業では文献講読を通して、草津温泉の近現代史を学ぶ。毎回、履修者による報告とディスカッションを繰り返しながら、「近代観光」が温泉地に与えた影響について議論する。
