For practitioners working in the field psychological support and therapy, dealing with children is not rare. For children, in comparison to adult clients, the therapist must interpret and employ more visually-oriented types of expression to compensate for the less mature language of children. Therefore, students will not only learn the basic knowledge required to conduct “play therapy,” but will also master approaches to visually-oriented types of communication.
In addition to basic knowledge of play therapy such as its history, an overview of the method, and the posture that the therapist must assume, lectures will also relate the know-how that a certified public psychologist or a clinical psychologist needs to care for children. Since children mature a bit each day, support must be provided from a dynamic, cognitive development perspective.

主に講師による講義形式で授業を進めるが、適宜、検討やワークを行うため、学生には主体的態度で授業に臨むことを求める。
心理支援場面において、子どもに出会うことは少なくないが、その際、セラピストに求められるのは、大人に比べて未成熟な彼らの言語を補うかのようなイメージ表現を読み取ることである。そのため、本授業ではプレイセラピーに必要な基礎知識を学ぶだけでなく、イメージ表現に対するアプローチ方法も習得することを目標とする。

プレイセラピーの歴史や概論、セラピストとして必要な姿勢などの基礎的知識だけでなく、公認心理師、臨床心理士として日々成長する子どもの心の在りように対応すべく、力動的・認知発達的視点など応用的知識についても講義を行う。
