1. Students will be able to critically examine how social security systems should be designed from the perspective of poverty.
2. Students will be able to understand current research trends and debates related to social security.
3. Students will be able to clarify their own research questions based on a critical review of existing literature.
Social security systems are ultimately intended to address and alleviate poverty. Focusing on the realities of contemporary poverty in Japan, this course critically examines whether and to what extent existing social security systems are capable of addressing these issues. To this end, students will review major research trends and scholarly debates in the field of social security. Building on this foundation, they will work to clarify their own research questions and to develop appropriate research methods for conducting independent academic research.

社会保障制度は、究極的には貧困の解決を目的とするものである。今日の貧困問題の実態を踏まえ、それを解決し得る社会保障のあり方を考察する。そのために、社会保障に関する研究動向を学ぶとともに、自らの研究課題を明確化し、適切な研究方法を身に着けられるようになることを目指す。
Social security systems are ultimately intended to address and alleviate poverty.
