In this lecture, we will look at the issues currently facing Japanese companies, particularly issues related to sustainability, and consider the policies and business strategies for solving each of these issues from the analytical framework of economics and management theory. The aim of this class is to acquire knowledge that will contribute to the development of sustainable management strategies for companies and new businesses that solve issues.
Following on from “Modern Economic Theory 1”, which covered economic and social systems from the perspective of a company's management resources, this lecture will focus on resources, environment and energy, which will determine the future of many industries in Japan and overseas, and will interpret the modern economy from the perspective of sustainability.
We will outline the issues facing the world and the policy trends in Japan, and consider them mainly from the analytical framework of economics and management theory. In particular, we will consider sustainable management strategies for companies and new businesses that contribute to the creation of social value, with a focus on policies related to carbon neutrality, resource recycling, and nature-positive initiatives.

本講義では、現在の日本企業が直面している課題、主として持続可能性に関する課題を取り上げ、それぞれの課題解決のための政策および事業戦略について、経済学、経営学の分析枠組みで考察を行う。企業の持続可能な経営戦略、課題解決のための新規事業開発に資する知見を身につけることが本授業の目的である。

企業の経営資源を切り口として経済・社会システムを解説した「現代経済論1」に続き、本講義では、応用編として、国内外の多くの産業の将来を左右する、資源・環境・エネルギー等の動向に光を当て、持続可能性の観点から現代経済を読み解く。
世界が直面する課題および日本の政策動向を概説し、主として経済学、経営学の分析枠組みで考察を行う。特にカーボンニュートラル、資源循環、ネイチャーポジティブ関連政策について理解し、企業の持続可能な経営戦略、社会的価値の創造に資する新規事業について考察を行う。
